Geordan Coupland Gita Gita Harris is an independent dance artist, choreographer, teacher and member of Alias Dance Project.  She has a BFA Honours from Ryerson University (2008) in performance dance.  With Alias she has had the opportunity of performing works by Valerie Calam; Solidstate Breakdance’s co-artistic directors Helen Simard and JoDee Allen; Alias members Lauren Cook, Geordan Coupland and Meghan Cafferky.  Most recently, Gita has had the opportunity of working with Heidi Strauss and Apolonia Velasquez who’s new work will premiere in April 2011 as part of  Alias Dance Project’s, The First LP, a DanceWorks CoWorks series event.  Her own most recent work, Brain Pain, was recently performed in Dance Ontario’s DanceWeekend’11.  She also had the opportunity of working in the CanAsian Dance Festival’s dance film workshop led by award-winning U.K. dance film director David Hinton.  She is trained in Kaeja d’Dance’s Express Dance Program and has lead children through Express Dance workshops in Toronto's inner-city schools. Gita performed in two music videos from Feist’s Grammy nominated album The Reminder (choreography by Noemi LaFrance), as well as a music video for Finnish band Apocalyptica.  She was also one of four dancers requested to join Feist on stage at Massey Hall, with choreography by Noemi LaFrance. She is also a certified personal training specialist, is working towards certification as a Pilates instructor.  She has a first-degree black belt in Chito Ryu Karate in which she has competed both nationally and internationally.
