Andrea Spaziani is a performer, choreographer, co-Artistic Director of Open Air Collective (formerly Integrated Dance Artists Collective) and member of Alias Dance Project. An honours grad from Ryerson University in 2005, Andrea went on to study at Impuls Tanz in Vienna, Austria and Transformation Danse in Montreal, QC. Some of Andrea’s choreographic credits include J (is for Jane caught adrift in the snow) for Hub 14’s Under a Paper Moon, Sum of Parts for the 2011 Dance Ontario Dance Weekend, and in other words. for Pia Bouman’s student company YMI Dancing. Andrea’s newest work, The Moment Before will be presented at Dance: Made in Canada/Fait au Canada in August 2011. With Open Air, Andrea has had the privilege of performing in works by David Earle, D.A. Hoskins, Darryl Tracy, Heidi Strauss and Meagan O’Shea. Ongoing projects include Bamboo by Montreal’s Emmanuel Jouthe, and a new work by Kate Hilliard. With Alias, Andrea is gearing up for the Dance Works Co-Works Series event The First LP in April 2011, featuring works by Valerie Calam, JoDee Allen and Helen Simard of Solid State Breakdance, Heidi Strauss, Apolonia Velazquez, and B-Boy Whiplash (aka Troy Feldman). Recently, Andrea was invited to participate in the creation of a new work by Susie Burpee, as well as Stay Here, Don’t Go by Alicia Grant for the Toronto’s Rhubarb Festival. She was also asked to participate in The Love Project by Meagan O’Shea: an arts education performance project that will tour to Ontario high schools in Fall 2011.
