Geordan Coupland Geordan

Geordan Coupland is an independent dancer/interpreter, choreographer and teacher and a co-founder of Alias. She is a graduate of Ryerson University (2005) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in performing dance. During her time at Ryerson she had the opportunity to work with Andrea Naan and Julia Sasso.

She has performed and choreographed for various festivals in Canada including FFida, Toronto International dance festival outdoor stage and main stage series, Montreal Fringe festival, Series 808 and Guelph Contemporary Festival, Dance Ontario Weekend, Women in Dance and Fashion Cares 2001-2004. Geordan has worked with award winning director Christopher Mills on the Buck 65’s video Shutterbuggin’ as well as performed with Alias at The Bazaar produced by Mariano Abarca and Dance Matters Series 3 produced by Tanya Crowder. Her latest choreographic work "Insignia" co-choreographed by Meghan Cafferky premiered at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2010 and is being remounted for Alias' The First LP a dancewroks Co-Works production.

Through Alias she has had the pleasure of working with, Dora award nominee Valerie Calam, Montreal's Solid State Breakdance, Dora award winner Heidi Strauss and Gadfly's Apolonia Velasquez.

Upcoming projects include Alias' production of the first LP at the Lower Ossington Theatre April 2011 and in the fall of 2011 and exciting new choreographic process with the powerful forces of Allen Kaeja of Kaeja D'dance and urban dance artist Troy Feldman.Geordan is the director of Contemporary Dance program at Turning Pointe Dance Academy. She is a certified Pilates instructor at Riverdale Pilates. Her clients include both fitness and rehabilitative. She is also a member of ACTRA and Dance Ontario.
